The Kings' cake (or Pitiviers in french) is a cake celebrating Epiphany (January 6) and traditionally consumed around this date. The Kings' cake, in its most common version in France, is a puff pastry cake generally filled with frangipane (cream made with almonds). It is tradition that at the Epiphany one "choose the kings": a bean (a charm) is hidden in the cake and the person who obtains this bean becomes the king of the day. The king must choose their queen among those present.
